As the Race Comes Closer, the Runs Get Farther

This week was the toughest I have experienced during training. With Baylor Sing being these past two weekends I have been constantly busy and feel like I am never standing still. Apart from performing, I also have been sick since Tuesday morning. I woke up with a slight fever and was in bed the whole day. I felt better than I did the day before, so I started doing my daily routine on Wednesday. I was still experiencing a cough, sore throat, and stuffy nose but I needed to push through to be able to train and perform.

That being said, running was miserable on Wednesday and Friday. I had a speed workout on Wednesday, which quickly turned into an easy run as I had trouble breathing because of my nose and fatigue from the previous day. I only ran three of the four miles that were required of me that day because my body could not do it anymore.

Throughout the week my body has slowly recovered and by Friday I was able to do the four-mile easy run that was on the plan. I do not think the weather was helping me out in any way at all by being hot and cold this week, yet I persisted and continued to run outside. It felt nice to keep my body moving and in a normal routine even though I was not feeling the best.

On Saturday was the longest run I have ever done. We had to run eight miles and although it was tough because of my circumstances and it was the coolest thing to see that my body could do the length. Apart from being sick this whole week, I can tell that my body has adapted to running and it is not a challenge anymore. Yes, the mileage is increasing per week but my body can keep up with it.

The race is now less than a month away and I look forward to continuing to bring you guys along on the journey!
